Owls

Finished up the Semester! Here's my second painting for DFA. Also some detail shots.
I always like looking at the process of how something got to be where it is.. here's some steps of mine below, just for fun. :)

Hell week

So, it seemed everything was due at the beginning of the week. Push-Pull Natural, a digital painting for DFA, and a one-minute project for concept.

Here's the pushpull- still a lot of tweaks to be made, but those will have to be saved for later, considering we're onto the next project. The quality is super condensed for nice download speed... I hope. The background image is actually from a photo I took

Clicky here!

The background image is actualy a composite of two photos I took while I was in alaska a few years ago. I put them together and then painted over/tweaked them, and then made the background props blend in. The first one is of a Glacier in the Tracy Arm Fjord (i think?) and the second was taken from a Gondola in Skagway.

Here's DFA- my first digital painting in Corel. I can't say I am entirely pleased, but it was fun anyway. It was a bit frustrating however, because I did have to take it back and forth into photoshop for certain tweaks (like scaling/rotating... which painter doesn't seem to like very much). The colors in the two programs are different. The colors are different depending on the monitor you're on.. or if you're on a PC or a MAC.. or if you open it as a preview, or full view. So really, I have no idea what the true colors/ tones are. :)

Caricature!

Here's a character of myself for my lip synch project. :) No idea what I'll be saying yet, we'll see! I must say, I look rather frightening with the neutral face on.

Character Designs

Character designs! Working inside silhouettes was liberating at first, because they're all designs I never would have come up with on my own. Though after working on them, it was difficult to maintain the same shape. But it was fun.

We had to choose one of these characters for our next assignment in CA. I'm doing the fox on the scooter.. he still needs a name! I'll post some pictures of him once he is all textured out. :)

Contests Contests Contests!

I did some contests this summer just for kicks. One was for Save The Frogs, a 'non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of amphibians.'
What can I say, drawing frogs is rather fun.

The other contests is actually still accepting entries, to anyone who is interested. On Angels Magazine is just that- a magazine about angels, featuring artwork and stories (fiction+non). The prizes are pretty nice, because in addition to winning some cash yourself they give an equal amount to a charity or school/college of your choosing. Also- they post links to your blog if you have one. :)
Anyway, I did this in a rather different style than I usually do- 'spossed to be more art nouveau.

The Second

I don't know what his name is, but no doubt he is "___ the 2nd." I was going to call him Edward, but decided not to on account of certain vampric movies. And no, I don't know where the unicorn-dog cane came from. He needed something!

I just felt like doing something in b&w. About an hour.
On a side note, I found that I greatly enjoy sketching in blue pen. Perhaps I will upload some things later.

Mermaid

Just a random photoshop painting. Kinda boring, but considering I usually do things that are creepy (...unposted of course) it's at least something different.

Etsy

Alas, I've made a shop at etsy.com, good site for selling hand-made things. I've sold some of these at a gallery in Florida as well as a fair last summer, so I figured I'd try yet another venue. Yay!

You can check it out here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5871506

Characters

Just figured I would post some digital art stuff.. I'm currently working on an evil portrait just for fun, but who knows when that'll be up.

These are some caricatures(why can i never spell that?) I made last Christmas of my sister, my brother, and I. (Yes, my fang and my eyebrow-arch are on the wrong side, as my parents pointed out. ;) )
